What is the Arabic alphabet?

The Arabic alphabet is usually counted as 28 letters and is written from right to left. A letter may not look the same at the start, middle, and end of a word. Some letters do not join to the letter that follows.

Learning the alphabet is not the same as learning the whole language. First recognize the name and the shape, then read a short word. A long text at this stage is rushing.

  1. Learn the letter's name and its standalone shape.
  2. Look at the initial, medial, and final shapes side by side.
  3. Read one or two short words with that letter.
  4. Do not try to finish the whole alphabet in one day.
